Nucci Reyo - Live Long, Die Old

Friday, July 30, 2010

It has been a while since I been inspired by another artist when it coming to me making my music . Yet when I heard Kanye West say " live fast and die young " I immediately knew those were views I would be forced to publicly dispute . I have always been the type of man who speaks his mind , pride aside . The concept of encouraging us to die young is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. It goes directly against the legacy of all famous black revolutionaries and leaders who came before us . More importantly it goes against Gods ideas for us . Living a long and prosperous life is one of the many benefits of serving The Lord . Dying young is a direct benefit of serving The Devil. I won't sit and watch the culture I have grown to love being poisoned in this way . This is not a dis record , just me expressing my thoughts . This to will be on the long over due " In Due Season" mixtape .  - Nucci Reyo, on why he wrote "Live Long, Die Old"

Please keep the Lorenzen & his family in your prayers.

****

The family of former University of Memphis and NBA basketball player Lorenzen Wright said they suspect foul play in his disappearance.

Wright's sister, Adriane Harris, told The Memphis Commercial Appeal that Wright has been out of touch before, but "not to this extent."

The family filed a missing persons report with police, who said they don't suspect foul play.

Wright played in college at Memphis and later for the Grizzlies as a pro. He last played in the league for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2008-09 season.

Harris said Wright was last seen at a Memphis barbershop on July 19, where he had his hair cut. Harris did not say who she suspects would have harmed Wright or why, noting only he's always been reachable.

Thousands Say Goodbye to Walter Hawkins

(photos: Adam Turner)

Oakland, CA: Scores of people who never met Walter Hawkins showed up from every corner of the globe this week and squeezed into the Paramount Theater alongside thousands of Oakland natives to bid farewell to the pioneering gospel legend known for creating classic songs such as “Goin’ Up Yonder,” “Changed,” and “Be Grateful.”
Bishop Walter Hawkins, who cut a string of best-selling “Love Alive” LPs in the 1970s through the 1990s, died July 11th at the Ripon, CA home he shared with his brother Edwin and three sisters, after an almost two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Doctors initially gave him six months to live.

When Hawkins’ funeral arrangements were made public, hundreds camped out in front of the Paramount Theater overnight to get the free tickets the Hawkins family made available to the public the next day. Yolanda Adams and a who’s who of the gospel world showed up for an all-star concert tribute to Hawkins. The event was televised nationally on the GMC channel and featured performances by Hawkins’ former wife, Tramaine Hawkins, Donnie McClurkin, Ledisi, Mary Mary, and Bebe Winans, among others.
The following morning, Bishop Kenneth Moales officiated the eulogy where he proclaimed Hawkins’ only son, Jamie Hawkins, the successor to the Love Center Church his father founded in 1972. In attendance at the ceremony, which drew over 4,000 well-wishers was Rev. Jesse Jackson, Bishop Carlton Pearson, and a host of celebrities. President Barack Obama sent a letter in which he wrote, “Bishop Hawkins touched countless lives, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.”

At the time of his death, Hawkins was working on “Love Alive VI” and had already recorded several demos. Hawkins hand-picked one of his musical mentees, Donald Lawrence, to work with the Hawkins family to finish the CD project. Following the funeral, the family planned to have his remains scattered at sea.

Nucci Reyo - Amazing G.R.A.C.E

Sunday, July 25, 2010

Nucci Reyo, The Kings Kid, baptizes the new genre of music, created by G State Entertainment LLC., sanctioned "Hip Hop Ministry." Amazing G.R.A.C.E., Nucci's new single plays hardball with the streets and is an exact representation of what Hip Hop Ministry is all about.

This genre is new and necessary, already penetrating places where traditional gospel music has been resisted and even rejected. The hot single, Amazing Grace, is a message to those whose hope has long dried up, yet they are trapped in the flames of their own lusts and desires.

Nucci's passion for music and love for money and women were not enough to satisfy his hunger." With each accomplishment, he found himself wanting more until he realized that his thirst was unquenchable and he turned to alcohol as a way of escaping his own wretchedness.

"It was through Gods Amazing G.R.A.C.E. that I escaped the darkness and death of a worthless life; chasing after worthless things only makes you worthless," states Nucci. " Amazing Grace is a message to those who see no way out. The lyrics uniquely appeal to men and women to recognize their own need, while at the same time, pleading to God to extend to them, "His Amazing Grace. "

"The Lexi Show" Comes to an End

*singing* It's so haaaaarrrrddd to say gooodddbbbyyyee to yesterdayyyyy-ayyy"

GospelLoop is sad to announce this but  "The Lexi Show" is ending.

The critically acclaimed talk show hosted by Cable TV personality/singer Lexi, ran on The Word Network (a Detroit based Christian cable channel), for four seasons.

Throughout its history, the popular show became known for Lexi’s candid and often controversial conversations with gospel celebrities.

On her program, Grammy-nominated artist Tonex publicly admitted for the first time that he had been involved in homosexual relationships.

Lexi’s also interviewed the ex-wife of gospel legend Bebe Winans about allegations that the platinum-selling recording artist had domestically abused her.

“The Lexi Show" broke barriers in Christian journalism by talking about real life issues that are often swept under the rug in ecclesiastical circles.

“I’m overwhelmed with the unbelievable number of letters, phone calls and e-mails I’ve received in support of my show,” the former Stellar Award nominee says.

“I’m thankful and grateful to all of the fans of the show and will have a new home for the show soon.”

For fans of the show, past episodes can be viewed on Youtube. See below Part 1 of Tonex's explosive interview with Lexi.

5 Natural Ways to Boost Metabolism

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Whether we know it or not, we all strive for a faster metabolism. Some of us use diet pills to speed their metabolism, but the side effects and risks of these drugs make them even more risky.  Livestrong.com has gather together four safe and natural methods to speed up your metabolism:

Gain Muscle

The American Council on Exercise recommends resistance training for weight management. Think of your muscles as your body's engine. The bigger your engine, the more energy you can burn. Muscle, unlike fat, is active tissue that raises your metabolism just by being there. Adding a resistance training program is a sure method of naturally raising your metabolism. To make the most out of your time in the gym, train three days per week, training your entire body during each session. Use basic, compound exercises such as the leg press and shoulder press.

Keep Hydrated

Inadequate water intake can slow your metabolism. Water is responsible for several metabolic processes, including digestion, waste management and temperature regulation. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking 2 liters of water daily. You can fight hunger as well as raise your metabolism by drinking a glass before each meal. To provide an extra boost, make sure your water is ice cold. Your body burns extra calories heating it up to room temperature.

Cardiovascular Exercise

Cardiovascular exercises such as walking, jogging and cycling are all effective ways to burn calories and keep your metabolism stoked. If you are just starting out, use a low-impact, low-intensity exercise such as brisk walking or moderate cycling. With more experience, you can graduate to jogging or intense cycling like spinning.

Types of Cardiovascular Exercises

Coffee

Whether you realize it or not, you might already be waking up to an effective natural metabolism booster. The caffeine naturally present in coffee raises metabolism and can improve fat oxidation. Drinking a cup before exercise can also improve alertness and help fight fatigue.

Two Brothers Charged with Impregnating a 10 year-old Girl

This story is beyond ridiculous...I am saddened that two men would do this to a child. Please pray for all families involved.

***

In Georgia, two men were busted Monday for their alleged involvement in the sexual molestation of a 10-year-old girl.

Authorities there have charged Danny Lee Arnold, 19, with child molestation, cruelty to children and sexual battery. His older brother, Thomas Marcus Arnold, 21, faces the same charges as well as aggravated sodomy.

On top of that, Lisa Arnold, 28, the aunt of the two brothers, was arrested for incest after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) found evidence that indicated she had had sex with her two nephews. All three suspects are from Union City in the Atlanta area.

The investigation began when the Department of Family and Children Services learned that the 10-year-old victim was pregnant. The victim has since had an abortion, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

A DNA test was performed to determine which Arnold brother impregnated the girl.

In an interesting twist to the case, the brothers were arrested at church of all places after GBI investigators received an anonymous tip. Actually, we should clarify. They were arrested outside the church. Lisa Arnold was arrested in her Union City home. All three suspects were taken to Fulton County jail.

According to a GBI news release, the molestation had been ongoing for several years. The victim is in the care of relatives.

“I don’t know if she’ll ever be OK. Hopefully, the people caring for her now are giving her the love and support she needs,” John Bankhead, a spokesman for the GBI, said. “The effects of this will be tremendously traumatic and lifelong.”

Kashif Sponsors Music Camp For Foster Kids

With California’s budget crisis wreaking havoc on the poor, some of the hardest hit are youth in foster care and their guardians. Having experienced eight foster homes between the ages of four months and 15 years old, Grammy nominated producer Kashif, knows on a personal level the dilemma such a crisis can cause.

The producer/songwriter, whose credits include Whitney Houston, Kenny G., Lil Romeo and Monica just to name a few, always visualized his Kashif University as an institution that could make a difference.

From July 12-23, 2010, he teams with the Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services to make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children in foster care with a ground breaking music and recording camp.

Located at 9550 Crenshaw Blvd. in Inglewood, CA, Kashif University offers classes in music, recording, producing, drums, piano, guitar, singing and more. All the instructors at Kashif University are working professionals in music, and education. As proof of their accomplishments, youth leave the camp with recordings that they created. Kashif, who helped launch the careers of superstars Whitney Houston, Kenny G and Meli’sa Morgan with his hit music, works closely with the students and is always looking for new talent.

Kashif’s own recordings have sold over 70 million copies worldwide. His music is a mainstay on the radio, though he considers himself one of the industry’s best kept secrets. In the world of foster care, however, he is a giant. His Kashif University is a two week music and recording camp for youth ages 8 through 18.

Summertime is a critical time for all youth, explains Kashif, a time when many get into trouble because they are idle. For youth in foster care though, it is especially important as many have experienced five, ten or even 20 foster homes by age fifteen. For these youth this leaves an emotional gap that is almost impossible to fill.

“My introduction to music came in the form of a three dollar song flute when I was elementary school in the fourth grade,” recalls Kashif. “Music, as it turned out, would be the only common denominator amidst the uncertainty of moving between the many places I would call home.” Music, Kashif firmly believes, is one of the best methods of communicating with youth because it offers them a voice to express themselves.

Clarence Brown, assistant executive director of Eggleston Youth Center, a foster care agency, says:

“Kashif achieves in two or three days what years of psychological counseling is unable to do. He does it with music. I have seen him do it over and over again. It’s amazing to watch.”

To learn more about Kashif University or enroll a youth contact James Crawford at 323.353.1936. You can also visit http://www.celebritycamp.com/.
