For this year's Essence Music Festival (EMF), three iconic women will headline each night of the three day festival: Janet Jackson (Friday, July 2), Alicia Keys (Saturday, July 3) and Mary J. Blige (Sunday, July 4). This year's multigenerational list of performers also features some of today's greatest African American artists and also honors the local music of New Orleans.
If you are attending EMF make sure to stop by the Marketplace, which is held in the New Orleans Convention Center features some wonderful African-American art in many media. The daytime activities at the New Orleans Convention Center also include food booths showcasing New Orleans cuisine, the Festival's book fair, author signings, celebrity meet-and-greets, sponsor activities, the Essence boutique, community exhibits and much more.
